Lorenza (Lori) Collins Urbandale - Lorenza (Lori) M. Collins, age 90, of Sheridan, OR, passed away of natural causes on January 10, 2021 at Glen Oaks Alzheimer's Senior Care Center in Urbandale, IA. Lori was born in Buko, Talisay Batangas, Philippines to Jose Maranan and Marciana Sangalang on September 5, 1930. She was the second youngest of thirteen children and was the last of her sisters and youngest brother to pass away. She was exceptionally smart and was the first of her family to attend and graduate college in the Philippines. Lori was a business professional in the Philippines before meeting her only husband Jim and followed him to Lincoln City, OR in 1969. After five years owning and operating Sportsman's Landing in Lincoln City, OR, the family moved to Valdez, AK. Lori continued to work as a paralegal, bank teller and eventually retired as an accountant for the State of Alaska. Throughout her life, Lori had a keen sense for real estate and bought, leased and sold properties. She had tireless energy and after retiring in Alaska, she relocated to Sheridan, OR to start her next venture as the owner and operator of the 22 room Sheridan Country Inn until late 2019 at age 89. Lori had the sweetest disposition and was loved by her guests like family. Her advice to her son on taking over the Inn: "It's simple…just treat people with kindness." Her impact and legacy will never be forgotten by her family and friends. She will be missed. Lori is preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, William James (Jim) Collins of Sheridan, OR. Lori is survived by her son, Joseph Collins of Chicago, IL; her four grandchildren, Ryan Collins, Anna Collins, Sara Collins and Evan Collins of Afton, IA; and numerous Filipino nieces and nephews from her twelve siblings. Due to COVID-19, funeral services and visitation will not be held. Burial will follow on a date to be determined at Green Crest Memorial Park in Sheridan, OR. A special thank you to all the Glen Oaks and Hospice of the Midwest staff for all the wonderful care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Glen Oaks Alzheimer's Senior Care Center in Urbandale.
