Irene Geneva Brown

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:7 Irene Geneva Holland Brown quietly passed away January 11, 2021 at home in Delmar, Delaware. Born on September 3, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Edith Holland. Irene, affectionately called “Mom”, “Mom Mom”, by her children and grandchildren and commonly known to all as “Teenie” and/or “Teenie Baby”, she was committed to family and helping others. Irene receive her early education at Paul Laurence Dunbar School in Laurel, Delaware and WC Jason Junior High School in Georgetown, Delaware. She began working at Manhattan Shirt Factory, Harvard Customs Plant and Grumman, all in Salisbury, Maryland. Later she began working Safran Labinal in Salisbury, Maryland, from where she retired. Irene was a member of Mount Nebo United Methodist Church in Columbia, Delaware. There she was a member of the Senior Choir, United Methodist Women, Car Show Committee, Mount Nebo Youth Choir, Mount Nebo Gospel Choir, Trustee Board, Brothers and Sister Working for Christ, Kitchen Committee and Soup Kitchen. She loved her Church. Those who shared the joy of life with Irene and remain to cherish her memories include: two daughters, Deaidra Curry and (Robert) of Vermont and Denise Holland and (Jordan), of Delmar, Delaware; a sister, Joyce Kelley (David) of Dagsboro, Delaware; seven (7) grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Consdevella Dixson of Smyrna, Delaware and Anna Mae Hyland of Wilmington, Delaware; two aunts, Delores Hyland of Laurel, Delaware and Elizabeth Carter of Delmar, Maryland and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and acquaintances. Preceding her in death were three brothers, Lester “Bootsy” Hyland, Ralph “Teddy” Holland and William “Billy Boy” Holland and one sister, Anna Isabelle Holland.
