Eugenia Eleanor Blair Obituary

Eugenia E. "Genie" Blair, 90, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, January 13, 2021, surrounded by her family in the Gaymont Nursing Home, in Norwalk, OH.
Born on December 5, 1930, in Sandusky, the daughter of Joseph and Eleanor Victoria (Nowicki) Berti.  She was a 1948 graduate of Sandusky High School and later attended Art School.  Before she became a "full time" mother, she had worked at Periodical Publishers Services and at the Woolworth's department store.  Her family will remember her as being the greatest "stay at home" mother of all time and how she was very artistic. She always found the time to draw and paint which she truly loved to do.   Also, she will be remembered for being a very good cook and how she enjoyed tending to her garden.  But she especially loved her family and spending time with them.
She was a member of the Italian-American Beneficial Club, where she had played bocce for many years and  a member of the "Sod Busters" Garden Club.
Genie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Herbert "Jerry" Blair, whom she married on September 23, 1950; her family, Lynn (Jeff) Roberts of Roanoke, IN, Kyle (Gail) Blair of Roseville, MI, Diane "DeDe" (Dave) Berkey of Sandusky, Chip (Yvonne) Blair of Sandusky and Brandon (Heidi) Blair of Toledo; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Stephanie (Eugene) Knauer of Sandusky; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Batista Filipucci; a son in infancy, Steven Blair; and a brother, Bob Rumford.
It was her wish to be cremated.  The family will receive friends on Monday morning, January 18, 2021, from 10 am until time of the memorial service at 12 pm at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky.  Rev. David T. Clarke officiating.  Due to the COVID-19 health concerns, the wearing of face masks (they will be offered) and social distancing will be mandatory.  If you are uneasy about attending, please feel free to leave a message to the family on our website.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Back to The Wild, P. O. Box 423, 4504 Bardshar Road, Castalia, OH 44824.
