Maria she married Francisco Rivera on November 10, 1950 in Mercedes, Texas. They later moved to Pasadena and then to Manvel in 1972. When Marie was younger she liked to make quilts as a hobby as well as crochet. She also liked sewing. Marie had a strong walk with God and loved spending time helping the church and witnessing to people leading them to the Lord. Marie also liked cooking for her family and spending time visiting them as well. Marie also loved plants and gardening and spending time outdoors.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband Francisco Rivera, her parents, and her daughter Olivia Barajas.

Those left to remember her include her children: Ruben Rivera and wife Annie of Alvin, Ysabel Alvarado and husband Tony of Pearland, David Rivera and wife Mary of Rosharon, Ramon Rivera and wife Esther of Pearland, and Gloria Salter and husband Scott of Deer Park; Eighteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service following at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Park Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Park Cemetery. Pallbearers are David Rivera, Ruban Rivera, Ramon Rivera, Jonathan Jaquay, Christopher Alvarado and Leroy Barajas.
