Margaret Ann Golla of Columbus, Texas, passed away on January 13, 2021 at the age of 88. Margaret is survived by her sister Martha Sue Knesek and husband John Knesek of Columbus, Texas, several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Margaret worked for Shell Oil for over 44 years and never took a sick day. Margaret and J.W. lived in the Mentz community where they farmed peanuts, rice, and raised cattle prior to JW passing in 1999. Margaret continued to run the ranch for many years. Margaret was very involved in the community throughout her life. She belonged to the First United Methodist Church and served on the Board of Trustees. She was a member and Treasurer of the Garden Club, member of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, Life Member of the Colorado County Fair and was an avid Columbus Cardinal football and volleyball fan. She enjoyed hunting and playing golf. The family wishes to thank Dr. Klaus and the caregivers at TLC for their compassionate care of Margaret for the past few years. Margaret enjoyed sitting at the nurses' station "helping out" where she could! We always knew Margaret was doing ok when the nurses would say she's still feisty! A socially distanced graveside service will be held at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at 2:00pm with Pastor Mark Brechin officiating. Masks are required. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the charity of your choice.
