Giovanina "Nina" M. Farrell passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021. She was born on March 16, 1928 in Dro, Italy to Giovanni and Maria Trenti Sartorelli and immigrated to the United States in 1934. Nina grew up in Sheldon Springs, VT, and graduated from Bellows Free Academy in 1947, later working as a typist for Union Carbide in Saint Albans. While on a trip to Washington D.C. in 1953, she met Robert Farrell, a cousin of her best friend. They married in April 1957 and moved to Enfield the following year. She was a master in the kitchen, cooking everything from American standards to Italian delicacies. Food was her art, and she immersed herself in it with a love and attention to detail that rivaled even high end restaurants. From 1973 to 1991, she managed the drapery department at J. C. Penney in Enfield mall. She made friends easily among customers and co-workers alike. Nina was a faithful Roman Catholic. She and Bob were founding communicants of Saint Martha's Parish in Enfield and she volunteered at St. Martha's School for a number of years. Nina attended mass unfailingly, sometimes even several days a week during her retirement, as health permitted. Nina passed away peacefully at her home in the presence of her family. She is survived by a son, Mark Farrell of Stafford Springs; two daughters, Deborah Ingraham of Harwinton and Cathy Peters of Lyndhurst, OH; two grandchildren, Jason Farrell of Frederick, MD and Dayna Ingraham of Torrington; and a great grandchild, Sage Ciccone of Torrington. She was unfailingly loyal, tireless, generous and honest to those who knew her. She will be greatly missed. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Martha Church, 214 Brainard Rd, Enfield, CT 06082. Please meet at the church. Burial will follow at St. Patrick King Street Cemetery.
