<p><br /> John J Kleber of Pearl River, NY, affectionately known as Johnny or Poppy,&nbsp; passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at The Joe Raso Hospice Residence.&nbsp; He was 87.<br /> John worked as an operating engineer for Local 15, 15A, 15B, 15 C and 15 D in Brooklyn, NY for over 50 years before retiring.<br /> John was born June 25, 1933 in Brooklyn to Martin and Helen Kleber.<br /> He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.<br /> On May 5, 1962 he married Maureen at St. Angela Merici in Bronx, NY.<br /> He lived in Pearl River for the past 47 years and was a parishioner of St. Aedan Church.&nbsp;<br /> John will be remembered for being a devoted husband, father, Poppy and friend. He was always there for his family, friends and neighbors.&nbsp; He would do anything for them. Always happy to lend a hand.<br /> He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Toapha (Rob) of Pearl River; sons, John G. (Janet) of Pearl River, Douglas of Tappan, NY, Brian (Jennifer) of Nanuet and Michael of Pearl River. He was an amazing Poppy and is survived by his grandchildren, Robert, Aedan, Quintin, Liam, Grace, Jonathan, Jessica and Jacqueline.&nbsp; Also survived by many nieces and nephews.&nbsp; He loved everyone of his family dearly.&nbsp; He is predeceased by his wife, Maureen (2011) and daughter, Mary Kathleen (1987).<br /> A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Aedan R. C. Church.&nbsp; Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY. Visiting is Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc..&nbsp;<br /> In lieu of flowers friends may send memorial donations to The Joe Raso Hospice Residence.&nbsp;<br /> We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the entire staff at The Joe Raso Hospice Residence.&nbsp; Each and everyone showed our Dad kindness, compassion, love and the best of care.&nbsp; We will be forever grateful for the wonderful care given to our Dad by his doctor, nurses aides, social workers and clergy.&nbsp; He truly enjoyed his final days in his &ldquo;second home&rdquo;.&nbsp;<br /> &nbsp;</p>

John J Kleber of Pearl River, NY, affectionately known as Johnny or Poppy,  passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at The Joe Raso Hospice Residence.  He was 87.
John worked as an operating engineer for Local 15, 15A, 15B, 15 C and 15 D in Brooklyn, NY for over 50 years before retiring.
John was born June 25, 1933 in Brooklyn to Martin and Helen Kleber.

He lived in Pearl River for the past 47 years and was a parishioner of St. Aedan Church.
