Waldemer, Jean Whitehouse, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021 at the age of 94. Adored wife of 72 years to Donald E. Waldemer, beloved mother to Mark Waldemer, Lucy (Ron) Ryan, Dean (Fran) Waldemer, Dan (Kathy) Waldemer, dear aunt to Richard (Dorothy) Whitehouse, beloved grandmother to James (Rachel) Waldemer, Sarah (Patrick) Arnold, Rachel (Will) Streyer, Ted Ryan, Max (Amy) Ryan, Jackie (Kara) Waldemer, Kate (Lucas) Sandheinrich, Grant (Meredith Emshoff) Waldemer, Lucy Waldemer, great-grandmother to Alex and Isaac Waldemer, Eamon and Cameron Arnold, Vivi and Francis Streyer, and Charlotte Ryan. Daughter of Herbert & Olive (Handshy) Whitehouse, sister to Herbert Whitehouse, Jean was born and raised in St. Louis. She graduated valedictorian of Roosevelt High School in 1943, then went on to study at Washington University where she earned a Masters Degree in English in 1948. There, as a member of Delta Gamma Sorority and editor of the yearbook, "The Hatchet", she met the love of her life, Don. Following graduation, they married and settled in Brentwood, Missouri for a long and rewarding life of raising kids, traveling the world, laughing often, and enjoying cherished friends. Jean was young at heart, enjoyed lifelong learning, healthy living, keeping up with the times, and her Episcopal faith. She was an incredible mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Special thanks to her dear friend Pat Congdon, and to the entire staff at The Glen at Aberdeen Heights for their thoughtfulness and loving care of dear Jean. Services were private.
