Helen Walcek, age 83 of Derby, beloved wife of over 60 years to Michael Walcek, passed away January 12, 2021.  Helen was born in Czechoslovakia, January 24, 1937, daughter of the late Joseph Drbohlav and Frances Vanek Drbohlav.  She moved with her family from Czechoslovakia to Shelton where she graduated from Shelton High School in 1955 and later graduated from Southern Connecticut State College in 1959.  She then married Michael Walcek and settled in Derby where she taught at the various elementary schools and raised her family.  Besides her husband, she is survived by her children Michele Stordy and her husband William, and Thomas Walcek, her grandchildren Michael Stordy and his wife Maika and Adam Stordy, her great-grandchild Yandel Stordy, her brother Joseph Drbohlav, and several nieces and nephews.  All services and interment will be private.  The James T. Toohey & Son Funeral Home, 92 Howe Ave., Shelton has been entrusted with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
