James L. "Jim" Weaver Obituary

James L. “Jim” Weaver 92, of Wellsburg, WV died peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. Born on August 2, 1928 in Follansbee, WV a son of the late Montgomery and Minnie (Bamford) Weaver. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma (Smith) Weaver; a granddaughter Kelly Jo Mercer, three brothers, Theodore, John, and Edward, four sisters, Emily Weaver, Sarah Weaver, Margaret Braun, Thelma Connell, and Fanny Anderson. He graduated from Follansbee High School in 1947 and went to serve in the Navy during Peacetime. Jim retired from Weirton Steel Corporation where he was the general foreman of the sheet mill. He was a member of the Follansbee Church of Christ. Jim was a member of the Wellsburg Masonic Lodge #2 A.F. & A.M. and a 32nd Degree Master Mason, and the Scottish Rite of Wheeling and an active member of the Brooke County Relay for Life. Jim is survived by his wife, Catherine (Carpenter) Weaver, four devoted children, Randy (Cindy) Weaver, Marla (Gary) Mercer, and Penny (Chuck) Foose all of Wellsburg, WV, and Darak (Janna) Weaver of Brownsville, TX; two step-children, Donna (Paul) DiBiase and Robert (Mary Beth) Carpenter; eight grandchildren, Erin (Mike) Sovic, Courtney (Doug) Mason, Kristan (Jonathan) Hawkins, Emily (Brannon) Leonard, Nathan and Ryan Foose, Kayla (Matthew) Lee and Hayley (Jacob) Stephenson; nine great grandchildren, Gunner, Bear, Maverick, Gracie, Raelynn, Noah, Hannah, Jude, and Ronan. Due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic a private service will be held at Mullenbach Funeral Home 669 Main St. Follansbee, WV. Interment will follow in Franklin Cemetery in Wellsburg, WV. Full military honors will be conducted by the Ohio Valley Veterans Memorial Squad. A graveside masonic service will be conducted by the Wellsburg Masonic Lodge #2 A.F. & A.M. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to either the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent to www.mullenbachfh.com
