Lawrence Ray Hopper, Sr., 81, of Crossett, was born on May 19, 1939, to John Powel Hopper, Sr., and Hazel Gilbert Hopper.  He was called home to the Lord on January 12, 2021, at his home in Crossett.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Lenora Fay Jones Hopper; two brothers, John Powell Hopper, Jr., and Herman Hopper; one sister, Charlotte Lucas; and two great-grandchildren, Aiden Hopper, and Karaleah Wilcox.

He was a longtime employee of Georgia Pacific and a member of Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his four sons, Ricky Hopper (Carla) of Hot Springs, AR, Martin Hopper (Tammy) of Crossett, Lawrence Hopper, Jr. (Kathy) of Warsaw, KY, and Darren Hopper (Angie) of Hot Springs, AR; two daughters, Penny Williams, and Pamela Breeding (Thomas) of Crossett; one sister, Johnnie Faye Roark of Houston, TX; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 15, at Crossroads Cemetery, with Bro. Roy Grantham, officiating.  Pallbearers are Wesley Williams, Colton Williams, Luke Hopper, Jareth Breeding, Zeke Hopper, and Jared Laughlin.

A Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:00 p.m. on Friday at Crossroads Cemetery prior to the service.

Medders Funeral Home is complying with the CDC and the Arkansas Governor’s mandates regarding funerals and visitations and asking everyone to practice social distancing and refrain from any physical contact.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Those that are considered high risk, running fever, or have been recently exposed to someone positive with COVID-19 are encouraged to stay home to protect themselves and others.
