The daughter of Cornelius and Amke (Rotgers) Juchems, Florence was born on September 2, 1926 in Steamboat Rock, Iowa.  She was raised and educated in Hardin County and graduated from a one room school house.  On December 4, 1955, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Burns at the Steamboat Rock Presbyterian Church.  From this union, five children were born: Nancy, Robert, Kathleen, Barbara and Marvin.

Florence was extremely hardworking.  She could be found helping out on the family farm while taking care of her children in the family home.  The family later left the farm and moved into town where she helped the children on their paper routes before they were even out of bed.  She was a proud member of the Steamboat Rock Presbyterian church, Steamboat Rock Boat club and the local Legion.  Her greatest joy, however, came with the time spent with her family. She had a passion for sewing, crocheting, bowling, and attending the many activities that her children and grandchildren participated in.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Nancy Behmer, Robert (Eva) Burns, Kathleen Markey, Barbara (Michael) Perkins and Marvin (Lisa) Burns; one sister,    Janna Allen); 15 Grandchildren; 24 Great-Grandchildren; and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Florence in death were her husband, Bill Burns; parents, Cornelius and Amke Juchems; brothers, Ben and Jay; and sons-in-law, Michael Perkins and Mark Behmer.
