Claude Alford Lum Obituary

Claude Alford Lum, 81, a lifelong resident of Bastrop, died Monday, January 11, 2021, at his home.  He was born on May 9, 1939, to his parents, Samuel, and Nancy Collier Lum.   He worked as a stocker for many years at local grocery stores such as Piggly Wiggly in Crossett, and Safeway in Bastrop and was a member of The Church of God.

In his free time, he would often be squirrel hunting or woodworking, and was especially talented at building birdhouses.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be missed dearly.

Claude is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dianne Mann, and his infant sister, Clodene Lum.

He is survived by three sisters, Shirley Johnson and husband, Anthony, Juanell Smith and husband, Eddy, and Agnes Harris and husband, G.W., all of Bastrop.

A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, at the Hickory Grove Cemetery in South Crossett with Bro. Carvin Adams officiating.  Pallbearers are Nick Amos, Mike Carter, Greg Little, Anthony Smith, Ray Smith, and Stephen Middlebrooks.
