Robert L. Voss Obituary

Robert L. Voss - passed away peacefully at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home Saturday, January 9, 2021. Age 79. Preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Mabel Voss, his sister Trucy Deady and mother-in-law Lee Dudek. Survived by his loving wife Christine (Dudek) Voss, his sons Jonathan (Sheri) Voss, Jared (Allyson) Voss and Joel (Jessica) Voss, beloved grandchildren Andrew, Abigail, Aidan, Lyla and Theodore. His siblings Bruce (Kathy) Voss, Dale (Wendie) Voss, Betsy Voss (Fred) Dornheim and brother-in-law Bill Deady. Bob’s lifetime passions were education and coaching. He spent his career as an educator at Lemont High School, Marian Catholic High School, and Lockport High School. He was instrumental in initializing the Marian Catholic High School football program in the early 1970’s and was inducted into the MCHS Alumni Association Hall of Fame in 2005. His coaching career included later stints at JCA, Lockport, Joliet Township, Joliet Jr. College, and the University of St. Francis. He was a fixture in the stands at all of his sons and grandchildren’s various athletic and school events over the years; a cherished friend and colleague to countless area high school and collegiate coaches, and a lifelong mentor to former players. A parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius Parish in Lemont, Bob was never far from his loving wife of 52 years, Chris. His volunteer work within the Joliet Catholic Academy community, especially alongside Chris planning the annual Jubilate fundraiser, is irreplaceable. During retirement, Bob was an avid golfer and longtime employee at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Mark Talamonti and Sr. Barb Kwiatkowski, OSF for their friendship and spiritual support to Bob and the Voss family Visitation for Robert L.
