Obituary

Bradford Louis Hoover, born in Seattle Washington on May 30th, 1956, lived his life just shy of 65, passing away January 11th, 2021.

He died from complications contributed by Covid Pneumonia and a compromised immune system from having been a recipient of a bone marrow transplant to address an aggressive and rare type of lymphoma.

We are grateful to Brad for his unwavering commitment to endure an agonizing 2 1/2 year journey of countless, unending medical procedures, done out of a love and desire to be with his family, no matter the cost.

He is survived by Kathy, his wife of 36 years, his two children, Benjamin Hoover and Katie Lucas (Scott), and Brad’s grandchildren, three spirited blonde-haired boys— Roran, Corban, and Callan—who brought Brad endless joy. He is also survived by his three siblings: Michelle Drain (John), Tamara Sutton (Mark), Todd Hoover (Carla), and his mother Joan Hoover, along with many extended family members.

Brad earned his bachelors in Criminal Justice at Washington State University, subsequently pursuing a career in law enforcement. After a year as a police officer, he migrated down to San Diego where he worked as a Border Patrol agent for many years. It was here where he met and married Kathy, started a family, and eventually changed his career path within the field, moving on to the U.S. Marshal Service.

Once establishing himself in this branch, he and his family uprooted to Sacramento where he loyally served as Senior Inspector for the U.S. Marshals for 24 years before retiring in December 2011 at the age of 55.

Telling of the wonders and uniqueness of Brad would extend far beyond the small confines of the obituaries, consuming numerous pages, if not entire newspapers.

Brad was a great man. He loved his family deeply, showering unconditional care and affection upon his kids and grandkids. He was the safest and most gentle father to have walked this earth. He was a fastidious cleaner. A man of many rituals. A professional backseat driver. A zealous lover of good food and beer. A Fox News enthusiast. A collector of decades of newspapers, which he was always reading. A ponderer of life and its meaning. A humble man quietly possessing volumes of wisdom. And one of the funniest, goofiest and wittiest human beings.

We love and miss him deeply!
