Tanner Christopher-Maison Shurtleff Obituary

Tanner Christopher-Maison Shurtleff was born on October 21, 2015 at 7:50 in the morning, weighing 6lbs 5.2oz and 18 inches long. Tanner has two siblings Hunter Carson Shurtleff who is 8 and Mylee Lisa-May Shurtleff who is 6. His Father Austin Lee Shurtleff and I- Tasha Lynne Shurtleff, brought him into this world with such happiness and warmth in our hearts as we were excited to finally meet our baby boy. Tanner arrived extremely happy and ready to fight anything that came his way. On December 14, 2015, Tanner was admitted to Primary Children's Hospital because he was sick and had discolored urine, when he was being admitted into the Emergency Room Tanner went unresponsive and limp, shortly after being admitted to the PICU Tanner was Diagnosed with SMA- Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 on December 17, 2015. With everything our Bubba has gone through he is always happy and willing to show how strong he truly is. Tanner was admitted to Primary Children's Hospital on four separate occasions and no matter what he went through he always left the hospital with a smile on his face and sunlight in his soul. Day after day of throwing mucus plugs Tanner was still as strong as ever and showed everyone it was still not his time to go. Tanner went through so much during his short stay, we watched him fight for every breath he could get, and he had to fight off multiple mucus plugs a day. We watched as his SMA progressed day by day but no matter what Tanner was always right there with a smile on his face and ready to fight his next battle as we knew would be right around the corner. Tanner was last admitted on April 13, 2016 for surgery to receive his G-tube, during surgery he was amazing and so strong. On April 14, 2016 he was able to have his breathing tube removed at 1am and he was still doing absolutely fantastic and was still as strong as ever. He was discharged from Primary Children's Hospital on April 15, 2016 at 1:30pm, on our way home he threw a mucus plug that shortly took his life at 2pm. While Tanner was here he always light up every single room he entered and everyone had a very special place in their hearts for him. Tanner is the strongest person his father and I know, every day we spent with him we made sure it was extremely special and never took a single second for granted, we were always right next to him as he fought every single battle he had due to his SMA, sometimes he would need our help but no matter what he always won his battles. He may have gained his Angel Wings but he will always be in our hearts and in our thoughts until we are able to meet him in the next life. We love you so much Tanner and we will always miss you every single day, not a day goes by that we don't think about you and wish you were here with us longer. -Mommy, Daddy, Hunter, Mylee
