Obituary

Jack Clunan of Cambridge, Brookline and Saunderstown, RI passed away on January 9th shortly after a cancer diagnosis.  He leaves his wife and partner of 30 years, Sarah Carter Clunan, four children; John, Brenda, Patrice and Mary; two step-children Carter and Alexandra, one step-granddaughter, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Jack was a native of Cambridge.  He attended St. Peter’s School, Cambridge Latin and Boston College.  He played professional hockey in Toronto Canada and coached at St. John’s Prep.

Jack had a 60 year career with New York Life Insurance Company and his own consulting firm, Clunan Associates.  Through his professional life he helped innumerable clients all of whom became great friends as well.  His philanthropic contributions as a Board member of the Warren Alpert Foundation and Youville Hospital were particularly gratifying to him.

Jack’s philosophy of life was to always help others in ways big or small whenever and however he could.  In so doing, quietly and without recognition, he enhanced the lives of many.

A Mass in Jack’s memory will be held in St. Peter’s Church 100 Concord Ave. Cambridge after Covid restrictions are lifted.
