Betty Mae Lester Obituary

Betty Mae Hinton Lester, age 85, of Wilmer, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Betty was a loving and caring person, who had a special passion for children. That passion for children is what sparked her long career as a cafeteria worker at Tanner Williams Elementary. She touched so many young lives and will be missed deeply by all that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Lara Bell Edmondson; father, Burnis Hinton; grandson, Raymond Lester; brothers, Robert Hinton and Lester Hinton; sisters, Laura Hinton and Bernita Hinton; and daughters-in-law, Debbie Lester and Christi May.

She is survived by her husband, George Lester; children, George Lester, Jr., and Rebecca Lester; grandchildren, Chad May and wife, Heather, Jake May, and Daniel Lester and wife, Brandy; great-grandchildren, L.C., Kayla, Garrett, Justin, Ashten, and Collin; great-great-granddaughter, Caleigh May; brothers, Cecil Hinton, and wife, Tiny, Jim Hinton, and Johnny Hinton; sisters, Mary Parker and Luci Weeks; and many other family members and friends.

Graveside services will be held at Joyner Cemetery in the Tanner Williams community on Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. Those planning on attending the graveside service will need to meet at Joyner Cemetery by 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
