A Celebration of Life for Donald Q. Flatt, age 69, of the Cumberland Cove Community, will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010, from the chapel of Cookeville Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, December 31, 2010, from 3:00 pm until time of the celebration. Mr. Flatt passed away on Wednesday, after a brief illness,December 29, 2010, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born July 16, 1941, in Bradenton, Florida to the late Benton and Brina Loftis Flatt. Mr. Flatt retired in 2008 from the Real Estate business where he was the Owner/Realtor for Cumberland Cove Realty. Donald previously worked for First Realty of Cookeville. In addition to his many hobbies, he loved landscaping,remodeling older homes, photography and painting. Donald was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn Bussell Flatt of Monterey; a son and daughter-in-law: Marty and Teresa Flatt of Monterey, two daughters and sons-in-law: Molli and Rick Bowen of Jackson, TN, and Mindy and Paul Wade of Goodlettsville, TN, two brothers and sisters-in-law: Franklin and Wanda Flatt of Dothan, AL, and Benton and Evelyn Flatt of Cookeville, a sister and brother-in-law: Aliene and Rex Miller of Blue Ridge, GA, four grandchildren: Cole and Chase Bowen and Parker and Pryce Wade, mother-in-law: Verda Bussell, brother-in-law: Douglas Bussell and many nieces and nephews and his dear friends. He also leaves behind four pets whom he loved so dearly; Sparky, Brittany, Rudy and Ms. Kitty. He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law: James Bussell, and a previous wife Donna Dennis Flatt. Donald's brother Benton Flatt will officiate at the service.
