Ruby Dorothy Rittenberry

Ruby Dorothy French was born on February 24, 1929 in Eureka, Texas, Navarro County, the daughter of Judson Ira French and Ruby Hux French. Dorothy was reared by her maternal grandparents in nearby Corsicana and graduated from Corsicana High School in 1946. She studied Art at Texas Women’s University in Denton. In 1948 she met the love of her life, Bill Rittenberry, and on November 25, 1949 they were married in his hometown, Duncanville, TX. They enjoyed a romance that lasted 68 years. His career took them to Venezuela and Ecuador, where they raised their family of four children. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Suzanne, son Jimmy, son-in-law Tim Wilson, and daughter-in-law Mary Bunting, grandchildren Pascal Barczak, Jessica Wortham, Haley Patrick, Rosie Rittenberry and Secoya Rittenberry, great-grandchildren Wyatt and Winter Wortham, and by her caregiver/angel Belqui Acosta. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband William Byrum Rittenberry and sons Eric, Billy, and Joe Rittenberry, at Little Bethel Cemetary in Duncanville, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or your local animal shelter.
