Phil Klingler Obituary

Phil Klingler Phil, age 71 of Waukesha, WI passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. He was born February 10, 1949 to Joseph and Harriet Klingler, who preceded him in death. Phil is survived by his wife Sue Klescewski of Waukesha , son Phillip (Sarah) of Menomonee Falls, Liz Hart (Eamon) of Delafield, Margaret (George) of Brookfield, Marina Klingler of Lexington, Kentucky and five grandchildren. In the 60’s, Phil was an on-air radio personality, known as Nassau Daddy. He had the opportunity to work with O.C. White, who transformed the WAWA’s station to a music and news format, aimed primarily at Milwaukee’s Black community. Eventually he became chief engineer for Milwaukee Clear Channel stations WOKY, WMIL, WRIT, AND WISN. In addition to his engineer responsibilities with Clear Channel, he would handle remote broadcasts, provide aerial traffic reports, and play Santa, responding to children’s wishes for Christmas. In 2000, Phil began work as a Regional IT Manager at iHeart Media, until his retirement in 2019. In retirement, Phil continued to love being on the computer or iPhone exploring the latest computer security systems, video cameras, electric cars, Space X flights, and any of the high-tech gadgets. Amazon deliveries were often at the door with some new”find”. He enjoyed sitting out on the porch, listening and dozing through podcasts. Because he enjoyed flying in earlier years and taking his children to Florida to visit grandparents, he also had a flight simulator on his computer to practice landing at a variety of airports around the world. His successful landing was noted: “You have safely landed at Heathrow airport.” Retirement also provided him time to travel and cruise the world, attend EAA AirVenture, go to movies, enjoy a cup of coffee at a coffee shop, or just relax in his chair. Phil will be sadly missed by his wife and family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your personal favorite charity in memory of him. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11th, at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha, from 4:00 - 6:00 PM, with a Service to follow at 6:00 PM.
