Crystal Z. Moshier Obituary

Sherrill-Crystal Z. Moshier, age 88, formerly of W. Hamilton Ave., passed away peacefully Thursday morning January 7, 2021 at the Oneida Healthcare Extended Care Facility. She was born on January 5, 1933 in Oneida, the first baby born in Madison County that year a daughter of the late George G. and Florence (Rutan) Zabele and was a graduate of the first class of Vernon Verona Sherrill Central Schools. After graduation she worked at Ross Pharmacy and for Dr. Bowne, DDS in Sherrill. On July 3, 1954 Chris and James A. Moshier were united in the Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church of Vernon and shared this loving union of over fifty-four years together until Mr. Moshier's death on August 10, 2008. Crystal was an active member of the Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, which later became the Three Voices Presbyterian Church. Crystal had enjoyed golfing in the women's league at the Oneida Community Golf Course and bowling at the CAC. She was a talented crafter who was well-known for her reproductions of antique dolls, which she sold at various doll and craft shows. She was an avid "antiquer" who was frequently seen scouring flea markets and garage sales for treasures. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family. She was extremely proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Surviving are two sons, Mark (Kerry) Moshier of Pembroke Pines,Fl, Michael (Luray) Moshier of Vernon, grandchildren Mark Moshier, Brian (Kimberly) Moshier, Mathew Moshier, Amanda Moshier, Nicholas Moshier, great- granddaughter, Sloan Moshier, one great-grandson, Mason Moshier, brother, Ted Zabele, sister-in-law, Beverly Zabele and several nieces and nephews. Crystal was predeceased by her parents, husband James, brothers, George (Pete), James A. and Roy Zabele. The family would like to thank the staff at ECF for the excellent care and affection they gave Crystal. Those wishing to honor Crystal memory are encouraged to make donations in her memory to Oneida Health Foundation/ECF Activities, 321 Genesee St., Oneida. Due to COVID 19 restrictions a private funeral service will be held at the Malecki Funeral Home of Sherrill with Pastor Kevin Baily officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Vernon, NY.
