Guy Leon Deel

Guy L. Deel, 89, a longtime resident of Roanoke passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Vernie Owens Deel; his son, Gary W. Deel; his grandson, Mikal Deel; his sisters, Fay and Jean; and brother, Buck. Guy proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force. While he was stationed in England, he met and married an English broad named Pamela Basted. Guy and Pam were married for sixty-nine wonderful years. Upon returning to the Roanoke area, Guy attended National Business College. He went on to work and retire from General Electric. Guy was an avid tennis player who also officiated tennis matches for United States Tennis Association at the professional level as well officiating at the NCAA level for many years. After he retired, Guy was employed as a concierge at Brandon Oaks. Guy loved spending time with his family, he was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Guy is survived by his wife, Pamela Basted Deel; his son, David L. Deel; his sister, Charlotte Scholz (Herbie); his grandson, Robbie Karl Deel, Sr.; his great grandson, Robbie Karl Deel, Jr.; his great granddaughter, Laura Grace Deel; his brother in law, George Campbell (Jean); and many nieces and nephews. Services will be private due to Covid concerns and precautions. The Reverend James Armentrout will be officiating with burial at Cedar Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Deel will be receiving Military Honors at the private services.
