Jalene Moseley Smith Obituary

MADISON – Jalene Moseley Smith, 97, left this earthly life on Thursday, January 7, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, January 11, 2021 at Ridge View Memorial Gardens, Eden. Social distancing guidelines will be observed and face coverings are requested. Mrs. Smith was born on June 28, 1923 in Rockingham County to the late P. Daniel Moseley and Mamie Lester Moseley. Jalene was a member of Dan Valley Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over forty years. She was an excellent seamstress and cook and enjoyed reading and gardening. Jalene loved her family, but most of all she loved her Lord and Savior. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Smith; daughter, Glenda Heggie and several siblings. Survivors include her daughter, Linda Martin of Stoneville; grandchildren, Christie Rice (Ken) of Walnut Cove and Lori Smith (Brent) of Durham; great-grandsons, Kenny Rice of Belews Creek and Kerry Rice of Walnut Cove; sister, Jan Moseley of San Diego, California; sister-in-law, Audrey Thompson and former sons-in-law, Bruce Heggie and Donny Martin, whom she loved as her own. Mrs. Smith will lie in state from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m., Sunday and from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m., Monday at Colonial Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Kathy Petty and the entire staff of North Pointe of Mayodan for the excellent care they provided to Mrs. Smith.
