Leslie Gene Bolden

1942-2021 Leslie Gene Bolden died at his home in the Hyder Mountain Community on January 7, 2021. The son of the late Hughes R. and Pauline S. Bolden, he is survived by his wife Jackie and their family, sons Dana and wife Sharon, and Jason Eric and wife Kimberly, and grandson Matthew. A native of Haywood County, Bolden retired from accounting with Dayco and Day International and the Haywood County Consolidated Schools. Much of his life was spent volunteering, which included PTA president to youth coach of many baseball, basketball, and football teams, the Methodist Church, Arts Council, and Folkmoot USA. IN MEMORIUM Gifts should be made to Hazelwood Elementary School, 1111 Plott Creek Rd, Waynesville NC with a note in the memo line: Bolden Memorial. Gene worked at Hazelwood School a number of years and it was a blessing to him. Therefore, any monies are designated as follows: All funds are to be used for Exceptional Children and or Disadvantaged (very low income) students in order to assist them in being better prepared for life. The funds may be for a backpack, food, school supplies, or instructional materials for these children, or similar items. THANK YOU for remembering Gene in this special way!
