Charles H Alexander Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that the family of C.H. Alexander morns his passing.  The morning of January 7th he was called to be with the lord.  He was a husband, father, granddaddy, and friend who lived all 89 years of life to the absolute fullest.  He and his wife, Sue Alexander, were married for 69 years.  They moved to Henderson from Breckenridge County to manage farms for Ohio Valley Bank in Henderson, KY, Corydon, KY and Smith Mills, KY. He was known for great physical strength, fierce competitive nature, and an infectious smile and laugh.  C.H. loved going to thoroughbred races.  Every summer found him on the backside or clubhouse of Ellis Park.  He and his brothers and nephew would also travel to other tracks across the nation.  When C.H. was younger he was not afforded an opportunity for a higher education, but he was a strong advocate for it.  He made sure that each of his four children received a college education. C.H was a member of the Moose Lodge where he enjoyed playing card.  In the later years, on Sundays after church, he would meet with a group of his buddies to play cards.  He was also a member of Belleview Methodist Church and the men club in the church.  He loved sports, especially UK athletics.  He followed the Chicago Bears and Cleveland Indians.  He played baseball in his younger years, he even was invited to try out for the Giants as a pitcher.  He chose to start a family instead of chase a dream. Because of that, he leaves behind a large family to carry on his legacy, love for Alexander Farms, and continue to share and cherish the many memories.  He loved all of his family dearly.  He would say his greatest accomplishment was always his devoted wife, children and their spouses who he loved as his own: Charles (Marsha) Alexander, Paul (Theresa) Alexander, Suellen (Keith) Barber, and Marianna (Jeff) Mackey.  His eight grandchildren Ellen (Robbie) Rendle, Jessie (Brian) Thatcher, Wesley (Lacey) Alexander, Alex (Courtney) Barber, Emily (Jake) Rucka, Olivia Mackey, Charles Mackey, & Henry Mackey. He also has nine great granddaughters.  Instead of flowers contributions can be made in his memory to Belleview United Methodist Church in Smith Mills, KY or the Lucy King Hospice center in Henderson, KY The family would like to thank Lucy King Hospice Center, Deaconess in Henderson, KY, Deaconess Midtown and Deaconess in Morganfield, KY for the wonderful & Loving care that he was given.
