Debbie was born in Rexburg, Idaho to Lorayne and Grant Harris. She moved to Sandy, Utah as a teenager and graduated from Jordan High School. Debbie had four sisters (Jana, Kathy, Marcie and Margo), who were her built-in best friends growing up. Debbie married Don Ballard in 1971 and they had three beautiful children together: Angie, Nate and Lindsay who were the light of Debbie’s life and who she loved more than anything else. Debbie met the love of her life, Bruce Danjanovich, in 2003 and after a record-setting engagement, they married in 2017 in Kauai, Hawaii--their very favorite place.

Debbie had six grandchildren, who she swooned over and bragged about: Braden (Rachel), Rylan (Emily), Brynlee, McKade, Boston and Briggs. You may think you do not know who Debbie was, but perhaps you did know her as the super friendly greeter or receipt checker at the Sandy Costco where she worked for twenty years and as a result was recognized everywhere she went, even one time in Kauai.

Debbie’s closest bosom buddy was her sister Kathy, who she fiercely loved. They were very best friends who did everything together up to the very end when Kathy took Debbie for her last mani/pedi. Debbie loved all of her sisters and looked forward every year to her annual sisters’ trip to Seattle, where they laughed, laughed more and left recharged by the joy of being together.

Debbie loved to travel to Kauai and walk the beaches with Bruce. She loved to have her breath taken away by a sunset, her morning coffee and Diet Cokes. She loved shopping for hours looking for the perfect find and giving presents to others just to see them smile (she was the best gift-giver). She loved to decorate her beautiful home and look after her flawless yard. She loved spending time with her children, spoiling her grandchildren and giving long hugs. Debbie always made sure everything was beautiful and wanted to give only the best to her loved ones.

Debbie was fun and funny, she had a witty sense of humor and always made others laugh. Debbie was sweet, grateful and caring to everyone in her world and always took care of others before taking care of herself. Debbie took care of her sweet mother for years and when others were taking care of Debbie, she always made a point to thank them and wanted them to know how appreciative she really was.

Everyone loved Debbie, from her family and friends to neighbors and strangers at Costco and Debbie genuinely loved them right back. Debbie’s big heart will live on through the people she touched throughout her life.

Debbie is survived by her husband Bruce; daughters, Angie (Rhett) Hellstern and Lindsay Ballard (Shayne Oppocher), and son Nate (Jacee) Ballard; sisters, Jana Simons, Kathy (Lonnie) Stone, Marcie (Bill) King and Margo (Jillian Perks) Harris; her six beautiful grandchildren; stepchildren Jill Briggs and Amy Etherington; and many nieces and nephews.

The family is full of gratitude for the healthcare professionals at South Mountain Dialysis Clinic and the Intermountain Transplant team. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Donor Connect www.donorconnect.life in honor of Debbie. Next time you walk on a beach or see a beautiful sunset…think of Debbie and smile.

A private family graveside service will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
