James William “Billy” Craig, Jr., 84, of Kershaw, S.C., passed away, Monday evening, January 4, 2021, in Prisma Health – Richland, Columbia, S.C. Born in Lancaster, S.C., he was a son of the late James William Craig and Ruby Drye Craig. He retired from Merck Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Craig served his country in the United States Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a faithful member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church. He was an avid lover of music. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. Mr. Craig also loved to garden, fish and play cards. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family and church family. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Maggie Bell Starnes Craig ; 3 grandchildren, Steven (Irena) Cauthen, Brandi Mussleman and Breanna (Francisco) Cauthen; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and 4 sisters, Ruth Mahaffey, Sadie Bozarth, Judy Hinson and Jane Catoe and a brother, Wade Craig. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his children, James William Craig, III, Bobby Dean Craig, Terry Lynn Craig Cauthen and Joseph William Craig and 2 brothers, Arthur Craig and Walter Craig. Friends may pay their respects, Friday, January 8, 2021, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home. The family will not be present at the funeral home. Memorials in memory of Mr. Craig may be directed to Kershaw Second Baptist Church, 7737, Kershaw-Camden Highway, Kershaw, S.C. 29067. A graveside service for family and extended family will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, January 9, 2021, in Fork Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Heath Springs, S.C. The Revs. Dr. Jason Moss and Ronnie Hinson will officiate. Burial will follow in the cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic everyone attending the service is asked to practice social distancing and wear a face covering at the graveside service. Baker Funeral Home is serving the Craig family.
