Bruce Ellis Stringer Obituary

Bruce Ellis Stringer, age 71, of Gonzales, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021 surrounded by family.  Bruce was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on October 9, 1949.

Bruce graduated from Junction City High School in 1968 and lettered in all four sports.  He was an exceptional athlete.  He served in the United State Air Force as a Weapons Specialist and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Alexandria, Louisiana, where he received the Air Force Commendation Medal for meritorious service, along with the Honor Graduate Award in his weapons training courses.  He loved his country and was honored to be a Veteran.  He received his first license to preach in 1975.  He retired early from Novartis to pursue his calling and received an Associate Degree in Ministry with a concentration in Biblical Studies in 2002.  He served as an Associate Pastor at Household of Faith church until he retired.

He was a member of Victory Temple church in Prairieville, Louisiana and President and Founder of Immanuel Heals Ministry.  He traveled the world and lived to please God.  While he was an avid outdoorsman, that loved hunting, fishing and gardening, his biggest impact was in the community and his church. He was selfless and dedicated his life to serve others. He was loved and known by many. Bruce will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and he would want everyone to know that he was more than prepared and eager to meet his Lord and Savior.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Alexander Stringer and Mary McVay Stringer, sister, Letha Echols and brother, Wayne Stringer.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of twenty-nine years, Veda Gautreau Stringer; his children, Tricia Porche, Vickie Hall and husband, Jim, Scott Stringer and wife, Tisha; his brother, Bill Wilson and sister, Carrie Lofton; his aunts, Virginia Mulligan and Vona Murphy Smith; his five grandchildren, Brandon, Nathan, Maci, Bree and Elizabeth and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Brandon Hall, Nathan Hall, Jody Gautreau, Isreal Millet, Brett Gautreau and Patrick Gautreau.

The family would like to extend our gratefulness to his entire care team in the SDU2 and MICU and Dr. David Neil Campbell at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center for their compassion and quality of care, along with our friends at LSU Health-Baton Rouge.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Ascension Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor James May will officiate. The burial will be held in Hope Haven Garden of Memory in Gonzales.
