Portsmouth – Ronald Maynard, 81, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020. He was born in Rocky Mt, North Carolina on January 10, 1939 to the late Joseph and Mamie Maynard. He was recently predeceased by his brother, Lance G. Maynard, Sr. Ronnie was a scholarship college graduate from William & Mary College with Masters Degree in Chemisty. He began his career as head of the Science Department at Cradock High School. He ventured from education into community development. He became partner with Maymax Construction and developed Raleigh Place in Chesapeake, VA. He later took his craft and skill to Portsmouth Tent and Awning where he met the love of his life, Pat Suggs. Eventually he was able to work with her at PNH Upholstery. In his later years, he enjoyed being with his family at birthday and holiday gatherings; dinner and Gunsmoke every Saturday evening with his brother, Lance; and Monday night dinner and Perry Mason with his best friend, Jack.
He is survived by his nephew, Lance G. Maynard, Jr. and wife Melissa; niece, Cheryl Webb and husband Johnny; and great nieces and nephews; Brian, Sean, Trish, Sadie, Jackson, and Maggie.
