Jeanne M. Kortenber Obituary

Jeanne M. Kortenber, 91, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Adams Memorial Hospital. She was born in Fort Wayne, IN, on August 18, 1929, the daughter of the late Aloysius and Orah (Reville) Holthaus. On May 5, 1951, she married James Kortenber, he preceded her in death on June 15, 2004.

She was a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, a member of the Elks Club and President/Secretary of Women of St. Mary’s.

Jeanne worked in the office at Lincoln Life and General Electric.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Nanette M. (Rick) Jauregui of Decatur, Marla J. Gonzalez of Decatur; 4 sons, Chris A. (Cindy) Kortenber of Angola, Brad J. (Deb) Kortenber, Mitch G. Kortenber, Ken J. (Lisa) Kortenber all of Decatur; twin siblings, sister, Joanne L. (Hubert) Mannes of Melbourne, FL, brother, James L. (Marcia) Holthaus of Bloomington, IN; another sister, Rita A. (Bob) Landstoffer of Fort Wayne; 12 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren and one on the way.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James Kortenber; son, Greg; grandson, Derek; 3 brothers, Roy, Leonard and Robert Holthaus.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021, at Haggard-Sefton-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home, with a reciting of the Holy Rosary at 4:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Father David Rupport will be presiding and burial will immediately follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
