Derek Jon Nix Fetters

Derek Jon Nix Fetters, 33, of La Porte, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 18, 2017 in his home. He was born November 9, 1983, in Evansville, IN, to Julie (Dorsey) Nix. Derek formerly worked as a machinist at Diamond Manufacturing for six years. He enjoyed fishing and camping with family. He loved his nieces and nephew very much. Surviving are his mother, Julie (Allen) Fetters of La Porte; one sister, Elizabeth Berg of Hamlet; paternal grandmother, Deanie Nix; one maternal aunt, Kathy Villines of La Porte; one maternal uncle, Ronnie Fetters of Michigan City; three paternal aunts, Connie, Shirley, and Nicki; one maternal uncle, Lamont Dorsey; two nieces, Payton and Michaela; and one nephew, Ian. Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Lamont and Mae Dorsey; paternal grandfather, Richard Fetters; and one maternal uncle, Frank Villines. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, June 23, 2017 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100. We are all still stunned by the news that Derek had died,,,I cant help but think of his dad, John Nix and grandfather Carroll Nix waiting on the other side to welcome him to a better world then the one he just left...I pray that my Nephew is now at peace...
