Robert L. Costigan, 88, of Brumley passed away peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2016 at Osage Beach Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Osage Beach. He was born on August 12, 1928 in Bath County, Kentucky the son of George Kelly and Ottawa (Jackson) Costigan, who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage on September 22, 1948 in Germany to Gisela Kugel, who survives of the home. He was a graduate of Batavia High School in Batavia, Ohio and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Ohio State University. He proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1945-1948. Robert enjoyed going to auctions and picking up tools and tractors. He found peace and tranquility in taking care of all animals and caring for their needs. He was a self taught mechanic, enjoyed reading; especially spy and murder novels. He was a knowledge seeker and found solstice in local and state history. Most of all, Robert loved his family and the memories they made will forever be cherished. He is also survived by one daughter: Regina (Michael) Edwards of Tuscumbia; one son: Roderick (Judy) Costigan of Tuscumbia; two sisters: Ann Davison of Lebanon, Ohio and Betty Wright of Lebanon, Ohio; six grandchildren: Chad (Karisa) Edwards, Shannon Edwards, Sean Smith, Alicia (Trevor) Burrows, Mendy (John) Smith and Kyla (Kyle) Stark and six great-grandchildren. Services will be private for the family. Interment will be in Hawkins Cemetery. Expression of sympathy may be made to the Eldon Friends of Animals.
