Shirley Leona May Heath, 76, of Hartsburg went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Sunday, May 6, 2018. She was born August 29, 1941 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Jesse and Martha May. She was the youngest of three children. Shirley married James Akers Sr. in 1956, they had two children, Jeanita Ruth and James Arthur Akers. She married the love of her life Melvin "Moe" Heath, August 14, 1965. They had their son Terry Dale in May 1967. Shirley retired from State Farm Accounting Department after 26 years of service. She enjoyed taking trips with her family and friends. Spending time with her family was her favorite thing to do. She loved to entertain and welcomed everyone in her home, always making them feel like they were a part of the family. Christmas was always her favorite time of year and she loved having the entire family at her home for the holidays. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister. She is survived by her husband: Moe Heath; one daughter: Jeanita Harrison (Tony); two sons: James Akers, and Terry Heath (Marty); eight grandchildren: Trisha, Monica, Jeff, Kimbra, Heather (John), Amberly (Sean), Jesica, and Jaynee; eight great grandchildren: Makayla, Lauren, Jenna, Savannah, Kambria, Braxton, Haven, and Mason. Shirley is also survived by several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Peace United Church of Christ 121 S. First St. Hartsburg, MO 65039, which will immediately be followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Vincent Gurucharri Foundation. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker-Millard Funeral Service & Crematory; 12 East Ash Street, Columbia, Missouri, 65203; (573) 449-4153.
