JoAnne "Jo Momma" Cureton, age 65, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2015 at home surrounded by family. She was a longtime member of West Lonsdale Baptist Church, and considered her church family to part of her extended family. She was always up to any challenge, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Tennessee Wesleyan University at the age of 55. She was very talented and had many interests, including: quilting, painting, and spoiling her nieces and granddaughters. She found her passion with nursing, and focused on helping the elderly especially those with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. She retired from Parkwest Medical Center in 2009.
Preceded in death by her father, James Campbell Jackson; son, John Marston Cureton, Jr.; and sister, Mary Reba Price.
Survived by her husband, John Marston Cureton, Sr. "Poppa John"; son/daughter-in-law, Paul Campbell Cureton, Melissa Cecelia Cureton; granddaughters, Waverly Dawn Cureton, Alifair JoAnne Cureton, Tallulah Melissa Cureton; mother, Ruth French; sisters/brothers-in-law, Margaret Howard, of Louisville, KY; , Gail Wise and Travis Wise, of Whitesburg, TN; Renee Norman and Ralph Norman, of Powell, TN; brother, Michael Jackson; nieces/nephews, Laura Barker, Jason Howard, Mark Price, Eric Wise, Sydney Norman, Samantha Norman, Breanna Norman.
We are thankful to her friends and family for all the thoughts prayers, and support. We will receive friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Thursday May 21, 2015 at West Lonsdale Baptist Church, followed immediately by a memorial service. A private interment will be held at a later date.
