Janice L. O'Connor

Janice L. O'Connor Loving Mother/Grandmother About Jan *Always optimistic *Devoted to family *Honest and loyal *Great sense of humor REMSEN - Janice L. O'Connor, 71, passed away with her loving family by her side after a brief illness on Friday, April 15, 2016 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. She was born in Oneonta, April 17, 1944, a daughter of the late Willard Becraft and Louise (Schieffer) Becraft Mitchell. Jan was a Licensed Practical Nurse, retiring after many years of service from St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. She once was married to Miles J. O'Connor. Jan was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and sister whose life revolved around her family. A fun-loving and positive person, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Whether it was a day at the beach or a backyard get-together, she savored each day and found the bright spot in every situation. She led by example, teaching her children the importance of friendship, love, and loyalty. One of her pleasures was tending to her flowers while basking in the sunshine. She had fond childhood memories of playing in her grandmother's gardens, roller skating, Christmas Eve celebrations, and fishing with her father and brother. She spent countless memorable occasions camping and hiking with her husband at Moose River. Jan also enjoyed watching the Whitesboro Warriors football games and Syracuse University basketball games. Having a zest for life, Jan took great pleasure in getting together with her friends and sharing good times and laughter. She enjoyed her work on the 2A unit of the hospital and was awarded the honor of Nurse of Distinction. Never taking herself too seriously, she and her friends from the hospital had fun with this title. Her humor and lightheartedness was characteristic of Jan. She always made every occasion memorable. From holiday family traditions, to spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she held those memories close to her heart. She was a great listener at all times to family and friends. Those who knew her will deeply miss her smile and her blue eyes. Jan is survived by her husband Frank N.
