James E. Armstrong, Sr. Obituary

James E. Armstrong, Sr., age 66 of New Hartford, NY, and formally of Succasunna, NJ, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2010, at his home. Jim was born in West Edmeston, NY on January 30, 1944, the son of the late Ruth and Leslie Armstrong. He graduated High School from New Berlin Central in NY, and received his Bachelors degree in Business at Rutgers University, NJ. Jim married Eleanor Benjamin on August 5, 1961 in New Berlin, NY. He most recently worked at the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) where he served as VP of Administration. Jim was a member and Past President of Society for Human Resource Management. His interests involved coaching youth baseball and bowling, and his true passion was playing golf. Jim is survived by his wife, Eleanor; children, James Jr. and Pamela Armstrong of New Hartford, Leslie Armstrong and Deborah Davis of Hewitt, NJ, and Denise Armstrong and Enzo Casamento; grandchildren, Melanie and Chris Nobles, Ryan, Kristin and Zachary Armstrong, Eddie and Ely Tupay Jr., and Kylie Burger; great-grandchild Rory; nieces and nephews including Bill Benjamin and family; and sister-in-law, Bede Benjamin. Jim was predeceased by his son, Teddy; parents, Ruth and Leslie Armstrong; sister Ann; and brother Jeff. The family would like to thank Hospice, CABVI, the 6th Floor nursing staff at St. Luke's Hospital, and Dr. Samir Desai. Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 9, 2010, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin, NY. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to, Central Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired, 507 Kent St., Utica, NY 13501, or Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413.
