Patricia Bowman Obituary

BRISTOL - Patricia A. Bowman, 84, departed this life on December 26, 2020 at Sheriden Woods Health Care Center in Bristol. She was the loving wife of Robert E. Bowman for 66 years.

Pat was born in Brattleboro, VT on May 9, 1936. She was the beloved daughter of the late Donald T. and Esther M. (Casey) Foster. She moved to Plainville as a young girl and attended local schools. Both she and Bob were 1954 graduates of Plainville High School. They were married later that same year.

In addition to raising three children, Pat worked many years as a cashier at the A&P in Forestville. She was employed by Classic Coil for a time and was a hostess at Roy Rogers in Bristol for several years.

She was a knitter and enjoyed her sewing club. She was also quite a baker. You could smell her homemade breads all the way down the driveway. Pat often took elderly people under her wing and saw to it that they had what they needed. She was a member of Plainville Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday School for a time.

The couple enjoyed summers at their camp in Milo, ME, where they made many good friends. They swam, boated, fished and went to the shore for seafood. Pat had a particular love of hummingbirds and butterflies and she kept the chipmunks, squirrels and birds well fed. She doted on her Schnauzer, Abby, and her Lhasa Poo, Corky.

In addition to her husband, Pat is survived by her daughter: April Bowman and husband Ken Dixon of Bristol; her sons: Scott Bowman of Naugatuck and Timothy Bowman and wife Karen, Baxter and Beau of Southampton, MA; four grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, four nieces, one nephew, as well as several special cousins and dear friends. She was predeceased by a sister, Joyce B. Spagnoletti.

The Bowman family would like to thank the staff of Sheriden Woods Health Care Center who kept her safe and comfortable both before and during the pandemic.

The members of Team Pat, her private caregivers, provided her with the best possible quality of life for many years. The family is forever grateful.

A private graveside service will be held at the West Cemetery in Plainville. A public memorial will be held at a future time to be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bailey Funeral Home of Plainville. It is suggested that contributions in her memory be directed to: CT Chapter Alzheimer's Association, 200 Executive Blvd S. #4B, Southington, CT 06489.
