New Hartford – POMPA – Paul A. Pompa, 96, passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2020 at his home. He was the loving husband of the late Mary (Barden) Pompa. Born November 9, 1924 in New Hartford; the son of the late Michael and Regina (Bucek) Pompa. Paul proudly served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He worked for many years at Hitchcock Chair. He was a founding member in 1956 of the Litchfield Hills Amateur Astronomy Club. He is survived by his sister, Katherine T. Bird of Torrington and many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his 15 siblings, Mary, Michael, Mary, John, Joseph, Andrew, Albert, Anna, Margaret, Stephen, Elizabeth, Geneive, baby pompa and Edward. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held in the spring at a time to be announced. Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 5 Steele Road, New Hartford has care of the arrangements.
