William A Howard Obituary

William A. Howard passed away peacefully on December 19, 2020. He was born November 14, 1933 in Autaugaville, AL. After graduating college (Alabama A&M) where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, He served his country by entering the US Air Force in 1955. While stationed at Craig AFB in Selma, AL, he met the love of his life Earnestine Porter and they joined in matrimony.  After completing 4 years in the Air Force, he completed Air Traffic Control training. He moved his young family to Ohio where he worked in the Cleveland Airport Control Tower. In 1960 they moved to Oberlin, OH and he was part of the first team to work in the new FAA Control Center.  Over the years his family grew, and he built a successful career as Air Traffic Control supervisor, trainer, and mentor before retiring after 35 years.

In his spare time, William enjoyed coaching little league baseball and softball, volunteering as a cub scout leader, vacationing with family friends, and spending time with his loved ones. He is survived by his wife Earnestine Porter Howard, his sons Eric (Abigail) Howard, Michael (Latonia) Howard, Jeffery (Joanne) Howard, and daughter Sandra (Noland) Howard Robinson, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Estelle Howard, sister Stella Howard Jones, son Wilson Ross, and close family and friends.

Private family service will be held and the Public burial will be Monday, December 28, 2020  at 12:30 P,M. in the Westwood Cemetery 455 Morgan St, Oberlin, Ohio 44074.

Funeral services and arrangements entrusted to Carter Funeral Home Elyria, Ohio. Social distancing (COVID-19 practice) and wearing of a face mask are required. No repass will be observed at this time. The family of William A. Howard appreciates your cooperation.
