Helen Arlene Plumb

Helen A. Plumb, age 89, of Sheboygan – God received another angel on Saturday, December 19, 2020, when Helen Arlene Plumb passed away peacefully after surviving COVID-19 at Pine Haven Christian Community Covenant Home. Helen was born in Sheboygan on September 30, 1931, to Henry and Kathryn (Ernst) Schimpf. She graduated from Central High School in 1950. After high school, Helen attended Warner Pacific Bible College in Portland, Oregon. After her college graduation, Helen returned to Sheboygan and began to work at R-Way Furniture. Helen was a very spiritual woman and was always involved with the church throughout her life. Because of her involvement with her church, she met her true love, Rev. John L. Plumb – and on December 8, 1961, they were wed in Sheboygan. They shared nearly 18 wonderful years of marriage until John’s death on June 15, 1979. After John passed, Helen worked several jobs that she always poured her heart into. She was an exceptionally good salesperson for Sears Roebuck, and she also worked for the Office on Aging. Helen was a beautiful soul who loved all people and made friends very easily. She will be remembered for her courage and kindness. She was very independent, feisty, and determined in everything she did. In her last year of life, she was in a wheelchair and loved scooting around wherever she wanted to go. She loved singing and sang with the Golden Cordeliers for years, and when they visited Pine Haven, they asked her to sing with them. Helen had a great sense of humor, loved getting together with family, loved going downtown, baking for others, and treating her grandkids and their friends to chips and soda. The matriarch of her family, she never forgot a birthday whether you were in her family or a friend – she kept the USPS in business! Helen is survived by her sons, John D. Plumb and Tim L. (Valerie) Plumb; grandchildren, Sami Krause, Christopher (Brooke) Plumb, and Jackie Plumb; great-grandchildren, Ripley Paige and Levi Krause, Athena and Ares Plumb; stepdaughters, Nancy (Lloyd) Glenzer and Anita (Nicholas) Canderelli; step-grandchildren, David Reineking, Kevin Reineking, and Stacy Joaquin; step-great-grandchildren, Selina, Emma, Bela, Tessa, and Daniel; sister, Julie Jekenewicz; and other relatives and friends. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents; granddaughter, Nikki Sue Reineking; sisters, Martha (Frank) Kotnick and Rachel (Edward) Ertel; brothers, Hank Schimpf and Richard Schimpf; niece, Nancy Ertel; and nephew, Don Ertel. All Covid-19 guidelines will be followed, and space for the visitation will be at a maximum of 25 people at a time. Helen will be interred at Sunrise Cemetery, next to her husband, John.
