Jack D. Williams Obituary

Jack D. Williams, 78 of Salinas passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015. He was born June 27, 1937 in Hobart, Oklahoma but lived the majority of his life in Salinas, California. He is survived by his two children, Ann Clore (Steve) and Daniel Williams (Patricia), his beautiful sweetheart, Carol Ann Hudson and 6 grandchildren whom he adored: Aaron Clore, Sara Clore, Andrew Williams and Wiley Williams and Cameran and Cole Greenwood. Jack was preceded in death by his former wife, Hazel Williams, to whom he remained a loyal and loving friend til her passing in 2014. Jack was an extremely hard working man! His ultimate goal in life was to be certain that his family were well taken care of and secure, a goal which he easily attained at an early age. He would be very proud to say that he worked a full day prior to experiencing a fatal stroke! Jack was an extremely wise man and will be missed for his great advice and friendly, listening ear. He always had time for a cup of coffee to listen to your story and would unfailingly offer advice, that when followed, would get you out of trouble, make you wealthy, make you smarter, well educated. He was a very deep thinker and long after you'd gone to bed and had set yourself to sleep, Jack was awake, remembering what you'd discussed and continuing to think of ways to help you and move you further along in life. He was an extremely rare man in this world and will be enormously missed. Jack and his son, Daniel, started Williams Equipment Company which literally began from the ground up when he and Hazel purchased land on which they built a small industrial building park. Williams Equipment Company initially occupied a very small section of one those buildings and as the company grew through Jack's leadership and his and Dan's likeable, knowledgeable and honorable style of business, the company became the success it is today. Jack had many interests and craved intelligent conversation about interesting things. He was fascinated by history, especially the men and machines of World War II. He built and restored many complex pieces of machinery with Daniel, his best friend, not only to make them work and get ahead financially but also because the inner workings of the equipment was so interesting to him. He admired the genius of taking an idea from it's inception to it's creation and implementation. From air compressors, ditch witches, fork lifts, Kenworth trucks, transmissions, boats and boat engines, old farm houses, Jeeps, you name it, Jack and Dan could rebuild them and make them better than new! As much as he loved and adored his children, Jack was passionate about his grandchildren! He tried his very best to teach them the joy of a work ethic and the satisfaction of doing a job better than was expected. He always had a grandchild by his side at every opportunity and was their greatest champion. It's hard to be a kid in this day and age and Jack understood that. He was unfailingly loving and faithful to his grandchildren and they are and will be his finest legacy. Jack was a very private man and didn't like drawing a lot of attention to himself. He loved wearing a workshirt and jeans everyday and as long as he had his pipe, he was ready for what they day would bring. He and Carol Ann enjoyed many motorhome trips visiting family and buying investment real estate. He was a wonderful friend and extremely loyal. If you needed a ride to the airport at 6:00 a.m., he'd stay awake all night the night before just to be sure he didn't oversleep and let you down! Those of you who knew Jack know how much he loved to laugh and on that note. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 West San Luis Street, Salinas, Ca. 93901. His family would love to greet you and share your stories about this wonderful man we all will miss yet remember with such great affection. The family asks that any donations or remembrances in his memory be made to Donor's Choice.
