On August 21, 2014, Ethel Fae Witt (Friend) peacefully departed this world to go on to her Father’s world and reunite with her husband Buck. Ethel was born on February 10, 1926 in Oxford to Robert Friend and Effie (Warner) Friend. In 1957 she married Faires “Buck” Witt in Oxford, Ohio. Ethel’s family consisted of two sons, James (Penny) Witt of Hillsboro, John (Dawn) Witt of Oxford and three daughters, Christine (John) Stone of Richmond, JoAnn (Kent) Wagner of Hamilton and Elizabeth (Jeff) Lyons of Oxford. Ethel had 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In addition, Ethel raised several foster children. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Earetta Baker, Anna Wilson, Thelma Clemmons, twin sister Edna Baker and son-in-law, John Stone. In addition to being a loving mother, Ethel enjoyed fishing, making wedding cakes and cooking. She will be remembered for her fried chicken, fried apple pies and constant supply of wedding cake icing she stored in the refrigerator. Ethel also held in-home parties selling Merri-Mac toys. Ethel was a devout Christian serving several terms as president of the Ladies Christian Fellowship at First Christian Church of Oxford. Her Love of God helped mold sons James and John as well as grandson Adam into ministers. Visitation will be held at Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral Home at 5086 College Corner Pike on Sunday, August 24 from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church of Oxford at 5877 Todd on Monday, August 25 beginning at 11 AM. Graveside services will be at the Oxford Cemetery at 4385 Millville Oxford Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oxford Fire Department and EMS, 101 E. High St., Oxford, Ohio, 45056 or VITAS Hospice, 11500 Northlake Dr., Suite 400, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45249.
