Leo “ Skip” Garey, 86, of Findlay passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020.

Leo was born in Genoa, Ohio on October 8, 1934 to the late Rolla and Susan (Dunn) Garey. He married Lorene Lincoln and she preceded him in death in November of 1969. He then married Maxine Moser and she preceded him in death in 1989. He then married Mary Wilkins and she preceded him in death in 2008. Skip is survived by his daughter Beckie Vajen of Findlay, grandchildren: Toni , Stephen, Kyle Vajen and David Garey, 5 step-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, Daughter in law Shelly Garey and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his children: Valerie, Michael, Todd and Robert Garey and 8 brothers and sisters.

Skip proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Houcktown United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #3. Skip was very active Mason, he was member of the Genoa F & AM #433, Findlay F& AM #227 and Mt. Cory F &AM # 418. Skip also was a member of the Zenobia Shrine and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Valley of Toledo, where he received his 32nd Degree and the Meritorious Service Award. Skip was also a past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star # 550 of Mt. Cory and Order of Eastern Star #23 of Findlay.  He received Knight York Cross of Honor. He was also a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon. On September 26, 1972, Skip was the candidate for the 200th anniversary of the Lincoln Temple in Lexington, Kentucky.  He enjoyed restoring his 1930 Model A coupe. Skip loved socializing with his family and friends and will be missed by all that knew him.

Visitation for Skip will be on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the Hanneman Funeral Home, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840, where a Masonic Service will begin at 7:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life Service with Pastor James Klausing officiating. Those attending the visitation and services are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be gifted in Skip’s honor to Ohio Masonic Home or to Houcktown United Methodist Church.
