Alice (Vogel) Messenger Obituary

Alice (Vogel) Messenger, 85 of Brownsburg, IN, formerly of Olney, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020. Alice was born on October 22, 1935 in Keenesburg, IL, the daughter of Jacob and Emelia (Bosecker) Vogel. She married Wendall Messenger on October 17, 1954 in Lawrenceville, IL, and he survives. Alice graduated from Sumner High School. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney, where she was active in the Mary Circle. Alice worked at Don’s Department Store in Olney for several years. She enjoyed crafting and planting her favorite flowers, and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren playing card and board games. Alice will be greatly missed by her family. Alice is survived by her husband, Wendall of Oklahoma City, OK; Daughters, Cindy Hill and husband Frank of Oklahoma City, OK and Twila Hornback and husband Rick of Brownsburg, IN; Grandchildren, Craig Hill and wife Jaclyn of Keller, TX, Chris Hill and wife Aubrey of Little Rock, AR, Tyler Hornback, Lizton, IN, Shelby (Hornback) Hull and husband Bailey of Troy, MI; Sister, Myrtle Sharp of Mt. Carmel, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Kendall Sherman Messenger; Siblings, Raymond Vogel, Irene Babinec, Carl “Corky” Vogel and Norma Shivers. There will be a visitation on Saturday, December 19, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. A Graveside Service will be held for Alice at Sumner Cemetery in Sumner, IL, following the visitation, at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Immanuel United Methodist Church Outreach Mission.
