Theodore F. Joyce Obituary

Theodore F. “Teddy” Joyce, 78 of Cambridge, formally of Everett, passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving wife and family on December 9, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Loving and devoted husband of Mary McLaughlin-Joyce. Ted was the son of the late Theodore Joyce (former Everett Police Chief) and Helen (Kersey). Dear brother of Thomas (Lena), Robert (Sue), and John (Kathy) and the late Patricia. In addition, Ted leaves a loving group of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and compassionate healthcare professionals who provided friendship and support to him over the years.

Ted was a proud Veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a retired longtime employee of the MBTA. Ted and Mary loved traveling to California, Cape Cod, Florida and especially Las Vegas. He was also a lifelong devoted Boston sports fan who also loved crossword puzzles and American History.

He was a gentle soul loved by many and will be sorely missed.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Peter’s Church in Cambridge. Burial and military honors will conclude in the Cambridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ted’s memory to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
