Barbara Ann Denton Sorrell

Barbara Ann Denton Sorrell, age 83, of Ringos Mill Road, Hillsboro, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Hospice of Hope in Maysville. Born October 11, 1932, in Hillsboro, she was a daughter of Raymond and Edith Boyd Denton. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, George Denton, Lowell Denton, and Gene Denton, and two sisters, Rosaleen Jett and Dorothy Kidwell. Her husband, Noel Preston Sorrell, whom she married August 26, 1950, passed away July 13, 2004. Mrs. Sorrell is survived by one son, Harold Dean Sorrell, and his wife Kathy, of Flemingsburg. She is also survived by extended family and special caregivers, Nicole Dotson, Jessica Conrad, Myranda Lytle, and Emily Jamison. She graduated from Fleming County High School in 1950 as valedictorian of her class and member of the Kentucky All State Choir. In addition to being a wife, mother, and homemaker, Mrs. Sorrell had been a secretary for Kearns and Williams, Inc., a postal carrier for Rural Route 3 in Flemingsburg, and a substitute teacher. A loyal UK fan, she also enjoyed traveling, working crossword puzzles, and visiting with family and friends. A faithful member of Hillsboro Christian Church for 70 years, she served as Sunday school teacher, church board member, and church pianist. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Hutton Funeral Home with Brother Jim Hamm and Brother Gerald Saunders officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery. Pallbearers: Chris Sorrell, Roy Sorrell, Matt Maze, Tommy Kerns, Lee Chaney, and Todd Johnson. Visitation is 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Hutton Funeral Home in Hillsboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Hillsboro Christian Church, 85 Denton Street, Hillsboro, KY 41049; ALS Association, 2375 Fortune Drive, Lexington, KY 40509; or Alzheimer's Association, 6100 Dutchmans Lane, Suite 401, Louisville, KY 40205 Visitation: Wednesday, December 16, 2015, 6-9 p.m., Hutton Funeral Home Funeral: Thursday, December 17, 2015, 2 p.m., Hutton Funeral Home Interment: Hillsboro Cemetery

Many good memories of Barbara through the Hillsboro Church. I can picture her face as she smiled and laughed. She was one of my Sunday School teachers and she played the piano for my wedding at the Church. May You keep the good memories in you heart. God bless you.
