Leonard S Nix
Leonard S. Nix, of River Edge, formerly of Hackensack, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 7, 2020, at the age of 72 years. Prior to retiring he was a self employed painter and wall paper specialist. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1967 – 1969 and was the recipient of an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army. Len was awarded the Bronze Star, the Air Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Army Commendation Medal for his acts of heroic service and meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight and in combat zones. He was a parishioner at Holy Trinity R. C. Church of Hackensack, a member of the Knights of Columbus Trinity Council # 747 of Hackensack, the Hackensack Troast Athletic Club. and an active participant of the civic affairs meetings in Hackensack. Devoted father of Leigh Nix and he husband Harris Derner of New York City. Dear brother of Kathleen Myles of Hackensack. Loving uncle of Tracy Slate and her husband Shane of Clifton and Stan Myles and his wife Michelle of Washington Township and several great nieces and great nephews. The funeral on Wednesday, December 16th, at 9:15 AM from the funeral home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack, with burial following at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Wrightstown. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6 – 8 PM. The family prefers that you honor his memory with a memorial donation to the St. Peter the Apostle Senior Residence, 415 Fifth Avenue, River Edge, NJ 07661.February 6, 1948 - December 7, 202002/06/194812/07/2020

I was very sorry to learn of Lenny’s passing. I served on the Hackensack Environmental Commission with Lenny years ago. He was always fighting for the cause and inspiring us to do good things. My condolences to the family. I know he will be missed.
