BAO DINH LE Obituary

Le Dinh Bao was born on November 24, 1938 to Le Dinh Trong and Do Thi Tuy. He grew up in the North of Vietnam but went to highschool and college in the South of Vietnam. On September 27, 1967, he married Ly Le Tuyet at Saigon, Vietnam. They raised two sons, Hung and Viet, and two daughters, Dung and Hanh. In 1964, he graduated Thu Duc Military Academy and joined Republic of Vietnam Marine Division. When Saigon was fallen in 1975, he was captured and put into the hard labor camp in Ha Noi, northen of Vietnam. His last rank was major.

After staying in the jail for roughly 5 years, he was released in 1980 and lived with the family at Saigon. Life was terrible at Saigon during that time. People did not have enough food to eat, laborers did not have jobs to work on. In order to feed his family, he had worked as a construction worker, a painter, selling cigarettes, selling ice tea, etc.

In 1990, the HO (Humanization Organization) appeared. This is a humanization program that allows people who used to work with the U.S military before 1975 and put in the jail (called labor camp) for certain years, to leave for the U.S.A. Like many other families, Bao was eligible and applied for this program and brought the whole family to California, USA in 1992. Even life was not easy for the first days in the US, but it was still haven if compared to the life back in Vietnam for him.

Bao had a passion for painting, collecting articles from newspaper, talking about history. He was known for his sincere, honest, friendly, respectful, and family oriented.

Bao was preceded in death by his father, Le Dinh Trong, and his mother Do Thi Tuy. He is survived by his wife Tuyet, his children, Dung, Hung, Viet, and Hanh, several his grandsons and granddaughters. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 at the An Lac Funeral Home on 7441 Garden Grove Blvd, Suite C, Garden Grove, CA 92841. Please no donations or flowers.
