Elaine Bokker Obituary

Elaine Bokker, 95, of Dell Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Dow-Rummel in Sioux Falls. Her Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 in the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. Visitation with the family present will be one-hour prior to the start of the service.

Eva Elaine Carlson was born to Charles and Eva (Baltazor) Carlson in Sturgis, SD on August 6, 1925.  Elaine's father died in a farming accident when she was six years old and her mother died of scarlet fever when she was eleven years old.  Elaine and her two younger sisters moved to the Odd Fellows Home in Dell Rapids, SD which was an orphanage at the time.  She graduated from Dell Rapids High School in 1944.  Elaine worked for the Coca-Cola Company following graduation.  She married Vernon Bokker on December 1, 1945 at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids.

Vernon and Elaine spent the next 38 years on a farm southeast of Dell Rapids.  They moved to Dell Rapids in 1983 and Dow Rummel Village in Sioux Falls in 2013.

Elaine was involved in many activities including Rebekah Lodge, Extension Club, Ladies' Aid and Church Circle.  Elaine and Vernon loved to have company at their home.  They also enjoyed traveling to see relatives and friends.  Elaine will be greatly missed for her witty humor.

Grateful for sharing her life are her son, Raymond (Marlys) Bokker of Gregory, SD, her daughters Roberta Geraets of Dell Rapids, SD, Sharon Chontos of Sioux Falls, SD; grand children Paula, Troy, Sara, John, Cheyenne, Mark, and Jack; five great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Dolores Shiveley of Crane, MO and many nieces and nephews.

Elaine is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, her parents and her sisters Margaret Larson and Charline Jenkins.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the caring staff at Dow Rummel Village.

Memorials may be directed to the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids Chapel Fund or the Dell Rapids Cemetery Association.
